I had a dream that John and I were invited to a birthday party which was to be held in the lounge area of a restaurant. Since the event was at 7 p.m., we thought we'd go to the restaurant prior to start of the party so we could eat dinner in the restaurant. When we had arrived, there was a large group of people we knew (who would also be at the party) sitting around a table. Clearly they were in the middle of dinner. Confused I wondered if we were late. Had we missed something about meeting for dinner prior to the party? John and I looked around for chairs to sit down but there were none around the table...and no one made a gesture to make room for us.
Just then another couple we knew showed up and they were in the same boat as us. We looked at each other, unsure of what to say or think. I felt somewhat awkward, as if we had not been invited but brushed it off. It had not dawned on me until much later that we were not suppose to sit down with the group for dinner. How silly we must have looked trying to sit down when we weren't welcome.
The other couple who came later got a table with us and we ended up having a nice dinner--separate from the group. We had a discussion about what happened to sort out our thoughts. We didn't know it but we were shunned to the "Kiddie Table" when we showed up and there was no place to sit around the table. Someone redirected us to the lounge saying we could wait in the hookah lounge and order food there while the group finished up their dinner. Dining in the smoky environment did not sound appealing which was why the four of us ultimately got a table in the restaurant.
When my dinner came, the sight was so beautiful and delicious. I opened my mouth to take a big bite...and that's when I woke up.
